Plane Crashes killing Soccer Team

Anika Shastri

On November 29, 2016, The Uruguayan Flight carrying 77 people, including the Chapecoense Soccer Team, crashed just along the coast of Colombia. Unfortunately, not a single player made it out the crash alive. Families are devastated, as well as the rest of Brazil, as they lost one of their very own soccer teams.

As unexpected as it was, Flight 571 had some type of failure with their electrical system. They made an emergency call and moments later the plane had crashed into the mountains in Medellin, Colombia. 6 people out of 77 had survived, but none of them were a part of the team.  This team came from a very small industrial city in Southern Brazil. Because of its minuteness, almost everyone on that plane was known by someone, leaving many distressed.

The players not only left their country behind, they also left their families. Many of the players had kids, both young and old. One player was just told he was going to be a father, a week before the crash, others had wives who are now widows because of their losses. Everyone who lost their lives will be deeply missed, not just the players whose lives were lost. If only the plane had checked their electrical system properly, this unfortunate event would have never happened.
