Cell Phone Use In Class

The use of phones in classes has been one of the most discussed topics for a while, but that’s when students were allowed to use their cell phones during transition of classes which are a few minutes. Kim Roberts, says” The usage is really high, and kids use it whenever they can.” Which is true. Some teachers allow their students to use their phones in class as long as it’s not a distraction to what is going on in class. Other teachers don’t allow phone usage at all; they don’t even allow phones on desk, because they feel like it would be tempting to the students. Phone usage has it’s advantage and disadvantages. First advantage is that when your parents want to get in touch with you, and don’t want to call you they shoot you a text in the middle of class, and to teachers it seems like you’re texting one of your friends about how boring their class is, but you’re really texting you parents about something really important that can’t wait. Second advantage whenever the school has an emergency instead of waiting for the school to call your parent the student can just easily text or call their parent, and tell them what is going on in the school, and that their fine or they’re not fine. The third advantage is that if someone doesn’t own a calculator they can use the one they have on their phone to help them out, but of course when a test comes they can’t use it, but it will help them with homework. Teachers allow students to use their phones for research at times when it’s appropriate.   The disadvantage of cell phone usage during class is that people might misuse it, because they might say they’re texting their parents but really texting their friends about something that might happen at lunch(a fight). The second disadvantage is that with the phone usage the students won’t get anything done, and if they don’t get work done they will fail the class, and when they fail the class they might have to repeat the grade that they’re in. “ when kids use their phones in class they hide it so that they can get away with it.” which never really works, because they still end up getting caught, and then they’ll get mad that the teacher took their phone away which make no sense whatsoever. So phone usage has its advantages and disadvantages. If a  teacher dosen’t really care about it than she or he should get ready to fail or talk to the student.
