Boys Indoor Track

The Northwest Boy’s Indoor Track and Field team has been just as successful as their previous 3 years. Coming off of 3 indoor state championships in a row (2014, 2015, & 2016) the boys are focused and ready to go for a fourth. They have just won the Montgomery County Championships, as pictured on the left. Only one other team in Maryland has completed the feat of 3 consecutive Indoor State Championships and that was Old Mill. No team in Maryland has ever won 4 in a row, and Northwest Boy’s Track Team are looking to change that fact. From the first event to the last, the boys have dominated the field. They have been undefeated for over 2 years now and they hope to continue this throughout the end of the season and carry it into outdoor track. Started with the first MCPS meet, they have won their 4 scored meets by 70-90 points each. Had their three other meets been scored, they would have won as well. 4 year members Komlan Attiogbe, Josh Netterville, Rory O’Neill, Elton Quansah, Robert Gicheru, and Jeriel Yamitshi are looking forward to being a part of history in that they will have experienced all 4 state championships if it comes true. On Thursday, February 9th, the boys will head to the Prince George’s Sports and Learning Complex to compete for the regional title and qualify athletes for the State championships. The goal is to get 3 athletes into states per event, and that greatly increases their chances of winning a 4th straight state title and being the first team in Maryland to do so.
