Coach Vukovich and the varsity wrestling team enjoyed a great season with a record of 12-3 and JV with a record of 11-1. Some varsity standouts were Khalili Owens, who holds the title of wrestler with the most pins ah a total of seventeen, Niko Berns, with the fastest pin of the season with eleven seconds, and finally Yonas Harris, who had the highest overall record of 42. Some JV standouts were Shamas Ishaq, who had an overall record of 17, Tim Cao, with the most pins at 13 and the fastest pin also in eleven seconds. The team went undefeated until facing linganore where the final score was a close 33-28. Later the team had an outstanding defeat against Seneca Valley with a score of 82-0; a perfect shutout. After a long hard season the team was ready to win big. Yonas Harris placed first at regionals followed by Siavash Sarvestani and Khalil Owen’s who placed second. At Montgomery Champs Yonas Harris placed first in his weight class and Khalil Owens and Luke Patterson placed second in their weight classes. Finally Khalil Owens took the team to the State Championships and fought hard against the best in Maryland for his second place win for his weight class.
