Social Media Has an Affect on People

Beatriz Acevedo

Social media has changed the way we see things in many different perspectives. It has its good side and its bad side. For example, all the fitness profiles you see on Instagram or Twitter can motivate you in many ways. Such as guiding you to healthier lifestyle, changing the way you eat or getting you to do exercise.

A bad side of these fitness profiles can be things such as these girls with these dream bodies, they can lower self esteem. Not only girls, but guys, too might not have this motivation and so seeing pictures on these accounts can cause jealousy.

Still speaking of fitness profiles, social media affects us by showing us what a “perfect” body is. Many women and men reflect themselves on this and it doesn’t always turn out good, they start shutting themselves down. Thinking of this the other way around, men and women will look at themselves and work harder for what they want to achieve.

‘I absolutely feel insecure’, says a young woman from Toronto. She feels that there is something wrong with her if she doesn’t get a certain number of likes and compares herself to instagram famous girls or girls she finds very pretty.
